Droid Incredible

The Droid Incredible (ADR6300) (formerly known only as The HTC Incredible) is a smartphone manufactured by HTC Corporation based on the Android operating system. The "Droid Incredible" was released on April 29, 2010 HTC Corporation has implemented several features to market its Incredible, including an FM tuner, 8 megapixel camera, and dual LED flash. The FM tuner requires headphones to be plugged in to be usable, since the headphones themselves act as the radio antenna. It is possible to play the FM radio over the phone's built-in speaker, but headphones are still required to be plugged in. The phone comes equipped with Android 2.1 (also known as Eclair) and HTC Sense. Unlike the Nexus One, the Droid Incredible features an optical mouse pointer as opposed to a trackball. The 8 megapixel camera is capable of recording video at a resolution of up to 800x480 (WVGA) in addition to capturing still photos. Recorded videos may be compressed in either MP4 or H.263 format. The Incredible officially supports tethering by Verizon, aside from doing it via free/paid software[2]. [edit] Support Supports Flash Lite 4.0. Because the Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8650 CPU supports ARMv7 instruction sets, the HTC Incredible is expected to support Flash 10.1. There is a hidden "Testing" menu on the Droid Incredible that can be accessed by typing *#*#4636#*#* from the phone's keypad. It will bring up 4 categories: Phone Information, Battery Information, Battery History, and Usage Statistics. [edit] Critical reception In April 2010, Engadget gave it this review: "Let's just put this out there: the Droid Incredible is the best Android device that you can purchase in America right now."[3] PC Magazine wrote "The Droid Incredible by HTC is an absolutely amazing device. The most powerful phone on the U.S. market today, it reflects and enhances the state of the art smartphone, with the full backing and support of the Verizon Wireless network."[4] [edit] See also Factory 1b.svg Companies portal * List of Android devices * List of HTC phones * Android (operating system) [edit] References 1. ^ "The Next Chapter in the Droid Saga Begins April 29". http://phones.verizonwireless.com/htc/incredible/. "It's better than the Droid, better than the Nexus One, and certainly beats the pants off of any previous generation handsets like the Eris, myTouch, or Cliq. It's not just a very, very good Android phone (though it is); it's also an excellent smartphone no matter how you cut it. If you're on Verizon right now, you're finally getting really great options for phones, but the Incredible is currently sitting at the top of that heap with a good bit of distance to the next in line." 4. ^ Segan, Sascha (2010-04-19). "It's our obvious Editors' Choice for Verizon Wireless smartphones and one of our highest-rated phones in the past year." Google had expected something around 18 phone models using Android worldwide, by the end of 2009.[1] In addition to the mobile devices that ship with Android, some users have been able (with some amount of hacking, and with limited functionality) to install it on mobile devices shipped with other operating systems.
