How did the idea for ApexVisions come about?
ApexVisions Inc. started out as a place where I could display some of my
photography. I also wanted it to be a place where I could make myself
available to build web sites for others.
What is your position within the ApexVisions project?
I'm the Owner and CEO.
How has ApexVisions grown or changed since its inception?
It's more than just a place to show off my work now. It has been mistaken
for an agency many of times and maybe it will be an agency someday. It has
grown into to a photography and web site design entity.
How large is the team that currently assists you with running this project?
We are not large at all. We have a full time make up artist and we are in
the process of teaming up with another web designer. Most of what you see
has been a one man show.
During an average work week, how many hours do you spend working on the ApexVisions project?
An average work week is about 40+ hours. Some weekends can be 12 hours
each day.
What's the most challenging part of maintaining or operating your website?
Finding the time to get things done such as photo shoots. There are some
many inquiries from individuals who would like to work with ApexVisions Inc.
We just do not have the time to fit everyone in as we would like.
What are your goals at the current time for ApexVisions?
One of our goals is to get more print work published. We have had some of
our shots published in magazines recently. Another goal is to work closely
with no more that 7 models to help their careers grow. Not like a manager or
anything but as someone who see potential in an individual and would like to
develop it into something great. Maybe have someone else do the managing and we
do the developing.
What are some other projects you're working on, or anticipate working on in the future?
We currently have our SexyVisions 2005 Lingerie Calendar
(http://www.sexyvisions.net) ready to go to the printer. Some last minute changes and it
should be good to go. In the very near future we have plans to start developing
portfolios for aspiring models.
What part of operating ApexVisions gives you the most enjoyment?
The most enjoyment is the photography part of it all. It is just a great
feeling to know that others like the quality work that you have produced for
them.
Do you work a regular 9 to 5 job or is ApexVisions your primary project?
Yes, I do work another job but I spend just as much time making
ApexVisions Inc. grow.
What's your opinion of the industry regarding ethnic models today?
I think it is great to see so many individuals showing another side of
beauty. I hope ethnic models continue to blossom and more individuals create
avenues so the world can see their awesome beauty.
If you could start this project all over again, from scratch, what would you do differently?
That is like asking what I would do if I was 18 again. The thing is if
you could go back and keep the knowledge, wisdom and skills gained from making
mistakes as well as from experimenting to develop new items then I would in a
heart beat. But we all know that cannot be the case. To answer your question
it would be work harder.
What are the positive and negatives you've experienced when working with models?
Well, for the negative it would have to be the no shows/no calls. The
cases where you have shoots set up and the model do not show or call stating they
will not be able to make it ahead of time. The positive is so many. If I
had to choose one it would be having to the opportunity to meet so many
individuals that are good people and able to help them with my skills.
What does ApexVisions offer it's visitors that they won't necessarily or can't find on similiar websites?
That is really difficult to answer because I do not consider myself in
direct competition others. My goal is to work hard and try to produce a quality
product hoping that others would like to work with us. Don't get me wrong, I
do go to others' web sites and analyze what they are doing good and bad. I
may try to emulate or improve on the good but definitely stay away from the bad.
What advice would you give to people looking into creating or starting a project similiar to ApexVisions?
The advice I would give is make sure it is a quality product. Quality
must comes first in everything you do for others to want to work with you. Also,
treat others fairly and good things will occur. Some people interpret it as
a weakness when you attempt to do things in a fair manor but it is not. To me
there is only one way to do things which is the right way while putting in
the hard work.
