How long have you been modeling?
I've been modeling for a little over 2 years.
What made you decide to pursue a career in modeling?
I enjoy being in front of the camera and it's a great way to network and pursue other goals.
What impact has modeling had on your personal life?
It hasn't had an impact so far. Hopefully it will not. I plan to keep them both separate.
Overall, what has been your opinion of the modeling industry as a whole?
I believe this industry is what you make it. Your image is everything and it is important to appeal to your target audience. This industry can make or break you, but it's up to you to keep it moving.
What do you intend to gain or get out of your career in modeling?
Modeling is a stepping stone for me to pursue my other goals. I plan to network and have fun in the process.
What are your turn-ons?
Turn-ons are intelligence, humbleness and people who stay true to themselves and others.
What are your turn-offs?
Turn-offs are models with the 'diva' mentality and men who try to impress with things they don't really have to compensate for what they are lacking.
Name some things you couldn't live without?
Music, chicken and potatoes.
How would you describe your overall personality?
I'm a down-to-earth and laid back chic. I grew up with my brother and my 7 uncles so I tend to get along better with the fellas, especially since I am a tomboy. I'm crazy, silly and cool. Most importantly, I'm about my business, but I don't jeopardize who I am to try to get to the top.
Tell us one thing about yourself that tends to shock people once they get to know you personally?
One thing that shocks people is that I can play basketball. They see my pictures and assume that I'm a 'lil girl' when it comes to the court, but then I have to put it on 'em...haha!
What would you consider your greatest strength?
My versatility when it comes to dealing with people. I can be corporate or 'hood' when necessary.
What would you consider your greatest physical asset?
My eyes.
What signals do you give to a man when you want him to make the first move?
Eye contact and a smile.
What signals do you give a man when you want him to stay away?
I look the other way or act like I'm on my phone. I know that's wrong!
What is the one thing you wish all men knew about women?
I wish men knew that we are just that, women. Most men are used to dealing with a certain type of woman that they assume all women are the same. Fellas, please step your game up when trying to talk to a real woman. We don't get down with "Psssst, hey baby."
Give us an example of what you'd consider the perfect first date?
Hmmm...I would have to say an outdoor activity (basketball, go-carts, etc.), getting into each other's minds and eating some chicken (haha).
Regarding the gentlemen you date, name one quality they must possess and why?
Intelligent conversation. Anyone I date must be able to keep me mentally stimulated or I will lose interest quick.
What are your opinions on the state of the black male today?
I think the black man has advanced, however, he will never reach his full potential due to the psychological scars from the past. Believe it or not, 400+ years of slavery and constant oppression f*cks the mind up!
When a gentleman attempts to approach you in public, give us some advice on how it should be done?
The best way for a man to approach me is to introduce himself and give a firm handshake. I like humor so that may work too.
Give us a description of a normal evening at home with you?
I try to get a workout in, work on the computer and relax.
Overall today theres a lot of talk regarding sisters and the whole bisexual movement, if you want to call it that. What are your personal feelings regarding this rising 'phenomenon' among black women?
Only God can judge. A woman's sexual preference is her business. As long as she doesn't come at me with it, I'm cool. I respect everyone.
What are your thoughts regarding brothers on the DL(Down Low)? This seems to be a growing issue with our sisters today.
This seems to be a growing issue that our sisters are dealing with today. What goes around comes around. Whatever he does will come back to him, maybe in the same form or in another aspect of his life.
You mentioned that you're big into 'social issues', especially with-in the African-American community. What are some of the current issues that our community is dealing with that get the most of your intention...both positive and negative?
I like the fact that more minorities are stepping out and starting their own businesses and making things happen for their communities. On the flipside, greed is what's killin us. We've got a lot of potential, but it seems as if most are out for self. We didn't get this far on the backs of one or two people, we did it together. Another issue is that a lot of us have that 'nigga' mentality. Our moms and dads worked hard, but couldn't get out the hood so we figure 'Oh, I'm just a nigga so I'ma do what niggas do...rob, sell drugs or end up in prison.' It's important for us to shake that mentality and make it happen for US.
With the current media circus surrounding the Michael Jackson trial...what are your thoughts on the whole situation?
It's a shame, but I think that people are focusing on this issue when there are bigger fish to fry. I love his music and will never stop based on this case. May God bless him and all those involved.
What are some of your other interest outside of modeling?
I plan to start a program for the inner-city youth focusing economics, social issues and our true history. I am currently working with The Clutch (www.the-clutch.com), which is a motorcycle show/tour launching in '06. I have some other things in the work, and you will know about them once they hit the scene. :O)
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself owning my own business. I would like to do some things in the entertainment field such has hosting a show. I will definitely be doing positive things for the kids.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in modeling?
Remember that your image is everything from the way you carry yourself to the way to talk. Be humble in what you do and most importantly, BE REAL TO SELF.
